11 Lovely Ladies A-Fusing and A-Painting

Last week I had the honor and privilege to teach at the SandHills Quilters Guild.  I lectured on the use of color in  art quilting and taught the Fused Applique and Paint workshop. I stayed at the lovely home of Pat Smith, where I was wined and dined, by her husband, the chef.  Pat showed me her extensive wet and dry studio and now I have extreme studio envy!

I love to teach realistic painting on textiles because when we started the class, most of the ladies were doubting their abilities, to say the least.  By the middle of the 2nd day, when they were painting their morning glories and angel’s trumpets, they were shocked at what they had created!

Take a look at what they made in just 6 hours!:

Obviously, some need some more targeted painting, and will ultimately be layered and quilted.  I’m so proud of my 11 lovely ladies!!!

If you would like me to teach for your group or guild, let me know as my 2012 schedule is filling up fast- no really, people say that, but mine actually is!

Subscribing to my blog and my BIG show!

I recently was asked this question: How does one subscribe to my newsletter and blog?:  Put your name and email where it says to on the right side bar and click subscribe.  You will then see a message like this:

You have successfully subscribed to my newsletter. You’ll receive a confirmation email in a few minutes. Follow the link in it to confirm the subscription. If the email takes more than 15 minutes to appear in your mailbox, check the spam folder.

Then go to your email and click on that link.  It will confirm your subscription and make sure you are human and not a machine looking to send me spam.  That’s all it takes!

And now drum role please-  My Really Big show is coming up next month.  It’s called FAQT-Fine ART Quilt Tapestries.  Thanks to Colleen Fox who came up with the name.  She wins a fat quarter of my hand dyed fabric. Here’s the info:

Dolphins Rising-Work In Progress

I finally got back into the studio to do some more quilting on Dolphins Rising.  I do love to quilt, so why then do I procrastinate some days?  There are hours and hours of quilting in this art quilt, but that hasn’t stopped me before.  Maybe I’m getting lazy as the good weather is now here.

I even planted a tomato plant in a topsy turvy! It grows upside down off my back porch.

The Topsy Turvy

For those of you who know me, I like to make quilts about plants, not so big on digging in the dirt.  I also cleaned up the screened porch a little so we can use it. It’s the perfect place to read a book and have a glass of wine.  You’re invited, just make sure to call first and bring the wine!

We are making Summer camp plans here at the House of Clutter (as I like to call my house).  Dance camp for the teenager and overnight Y camp for the 10 year old.

I know there are lots of parties and events this time of year (Mother’s day, graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.)  Consider giving a piece of art work as a gift.  A drawing, a painting, a piece of ceramic, a piece of glass, or dare I say it- an art quilt!!  Please check out my affordable offerings on my website and as always, thanks for reading!
