Can we talk?

Hi

Well, the Summer is officially over, isn’t it?  My oldest is up in Connecticut, studying dance.  My youngest is in 7th grade, and I am back in the studio working!  The demo at Piedmont Craftsmen Gallery went really well!  I had lots of interested folks asking questions and taking notes.  I did get some video footage too, which I will share.  If you didn’t get a chance to see the show, the Energy series is still at the gallery.
This week, I need your help.  If you could just copy and paste these answers to a few questions, that would be most helpful.

IN THIS POST:

A  VERY SHORT QUIZ

ROXANE RECOMMENDS

Which of these packages would be most attractive to you as a buyer of my art?  Bundling these things together would result in your paying less than if you were to get them separately.

1.  Art + delivery

2.  Art + print of  another favorite piece

3.  Art + notecards of art

4.  Art + a catalogue of my art

5.  2 or more groupings of smaller pieces

6. 2 or more Giclee prints of my art

That’s it!  How easy was that?  If you liked them all, then let me know that too. Or just pick your favorite combos.

ROXANE RECOMMENDS

If you have never been to a large quilt show, make plans to go  to the Really Big Show in Houston this Fall.  You will be amazed at the variety of art you will see.  Plus, it’s a great place to get all the best gadgets, books, thread, and fabric or take a class.  Wear your comfiest shoes because you will be walking a lot. 11 Lovely Ladies A-Fusing and A-Painting

Last week I had the honor and privilege to teach at the SandHills Quilters Guild.  I lectured on the use of color in  art quilting and taught the Fused Applique and Paint workshop. I stayed at the lovely home of Pat Smith, where I was wined and dined, by her husband, the chef.  Pat showed me her extensive wet and dry studio and now I have extreme studio envy!

I love to teach realistic painting on textiles because when we started the class, most of the ladies were doubting their abilities, to say the least.  By the middle of the 2nd day, when they were painting their morning glories and angel’s trumpets, they were shocked at what they had created!

Take a look at what they made in just 6 hours!:

Obviously, some need some more targeted painting, and will ultimately be layered and quilted.  I’m so proud of my 11 lovely ladies!!!

If you would like me to teach for your group or guild, let me know as my 2012 schedule is filling up fast- no really, people say that, but mine actually is!

Why I love working with fiber

Fiber is my favorite medium because I can rip it, crinkle it stitch or embroider it, bead it, paint it, layer it, stamp it, print on it, knit with it and on and on.  And when all is said and done, you still will want to touch it.  The depth and texture you can get with fiber is unlike any other medium.  Plus, there are so many kinds and patterns to chose from!  And don’t even get me started on dyeing fabric….it’s like Christmas morning opening presents to see what you’ve dyed.

Why do you like working with fiber?
