My good friend and awesome dyer, Sherol is moving and she GAVE me all of her gorgeous hand dyed fabric. I bought fabric from her in the past and used it in many of my art quilts. I opened up the plastic tub and BEHOLD- yards and yards of splendid fabric!!! Did I mention she just gave it to me?? As a dyer myself, I really appreciate the work and time that went into these beauties. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Sherol!
I wasted no time in using some of it in my newest piece. The photo is by Tom Bean, and is a landscape of Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. I emailed him recently to get permission to use the photo for my work, and he graciously replied yes as long as he got to see it when it’s done. Click on it to get a bigger view.
Here’s my version: I plan to use lots of thread and just a little paint to create depth, line and texture.
Do you have any photos that inspire you to create art? If so, what inspires you?
