It can be a landscape, cityscape, plant orflower, anything that you want to explore andinspires you. Let’s save people for anotherclass. Get out your travel photos for ideas. Ifyou use anyone else’s photo, make sure youhave their permission. Any questions aboutsubject matter, message me and we can talkabout it. DO THIS AFTER THE FIRST CLASS: Take your digital photo, make it into ablack and white photo, and upload it to https://www.blockposters.com/ to enlarge and posterizeyour design. From there you can print it out onregular printer paper and tape together for yourmaster pattern. Do not go any larger than 3pages wide. We don’t have time in class tomake a giant piece.We will decide which background piece to useduring our initial planning class depending onthe subject matter of your design.*Lightweight White muslin fabric for fusing ontop of large enough for the size of your pattern thiswill be completely covered by your topfabrics. You will be fusing onto it so none of itwill show. Your pattern lines will be markedonto it first, so you know where each patternpiece will go.You may want to use a dark background fabricto fuse onto- that’s fine also, it might be part ofyour design and you may want some of it toshow. You will also be marking your patternlines onto this first so you know where eachpattern piece will go.*Nice supply of hand-dyes, batiks or solids fromyour stash in a large range of values, i.e. verydark all the way to very light. You can neverhave enough. We will discuss fabric choices during class.
